Ensemble Performing Arts is seeking a bright, teachable, and naturally detail-oriented Payroll and Compliance Coordinator to help administer our growing portfolio of performing arts businesses. This is a full-time, fully-remote position that would be a great fit for the true generalist who learns fast, takes pleasure in organization and accuracy, and has both the aptitude and desire to acquire a host of precision-driven skills.

We believe this role would be particularly well-suited to someone with 1-2 years of payroll coordination, office administration, personal/executive assistant, bookkeeping or other clerical or assistant-type work experience who is looking to expand their skill set and achieve professional satisfaction by working and growing with a purpose-driven company. Candidates for this role should have strong organizational and project management skills, strong computer skills including a working knowledge of Excel, a good understanding of basic business administration and finance concepts, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and a conscientious and detail-oriented mindset. The desire to turn in an excellent work product, and accordingly take real pride in it, is essential. Prior experience with payroll or accounting software, or scheduling/billing software, while not required, would be a strong differentiator, as would be a personal connection to the performing arts and arts education.

Key responsibilities:

  • Administer payroll for over 70 different locations with different pay schedules, including pulling and error-checking data from a variety of sources
  • Maintain our database of subsidiary compliance responsibilities and deadlines and help draft in timely fashion all necessary filings and returns therein, such as sales tax returns, local business license renewals, and business personal property returns
  • Assist in onboarding and integration of new businesses
